Continental Properties to Boost Housing in Mount Pleasant

240-Unit Development to Offer Affordable Housing and Boost Tax Revenue

New Development to Address Housing Needs

Continental Properties is moving forward with plans for a 240-unit apartment complex in Mount Pleasant at 13117 Spring Street. The 16-acre site has been rezoned to accommodate multi-family housing, aligning with the growth strategy of the Village of Mount Pleasant. This new development will provide much-needed housing as demand continues to outpace supply in the area.

Expanding Housing Opportunities in Racine County

Racine County is poised for growth, with a strong demand for new housing. A housing study by Tracy Cross & Associates for RCEDC highlights a key opportunity to expand housing options and support the region’s thriving workforce. With rental vacancy rates at just 2.4% and limited construction activity, new developments will help meet demand, enhance affordability, and strengthen the local economy.

Development Features and Economic Benefits

The apartment community will include 12 two-story buildings offering a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom units. Amenities like a clubhouse, fitness center, swimming pool, and dog park will enhance the living experience. The project is expected to generate over $333,000 in annual tax revenue, with a total taxable value of $53.3 million, providing a boost to the local economy.

Moving Forward with Community Support

Continental Properties has worked closely with local stakeholders to ensure the development meets community needs. The project is set to move forward smoothly, with no major regulatory obstacles anticipated. While the construction timeline is still to be determined, the project is a key step toward meeting the housing demand and supporting Mount Pleasant’s growth.
