Safer at Home FAQs

SAFER AT HOME FAQs

Madison - Governor Tony Evers and Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) Secretary-designee Andrea Palm issued a Safer at Home order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, effective at 8 am on Wednesday March 25th. This order will remain in effect until 8 am on Friday, April 24th or until a superseding order is issued.

RACINE COUNTY COVID-19 UPDATE

RacineCounty — As of March 20, 2020, there is one additional confirmed case of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in the Central Racine County Health Department (CRCHD) jurisdiction. Central Racine County Health Department is actively working with this individual and identifying and contacting anyone who has been in close contact with this individual.

CRCHD will be monitoring the contacts for the development of symptoms in accordance with DHS and CDC guidance. CRCHD will not be releasing any further information about the resident. Those experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19 are requested to call their health care provider or the healthcare system hotlines for guidance. Racine County health departments do not have tests or testing capacity.

TARGETED GRANTS FOR SMALL BUSINESSES AFFECTED BY CORONAVIRUS

WEDC announces targeted grants to small businesses suffering losses due to coronavirus emergency

WEDC — In another step toward assisting small businesses that suffer losses related to the COVID-19 health emergency, the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) is creating a program to provide grants to targeted businesses throughout the state, WEDC Secretary and CEO Missy Hughes announced

The WEDC Board of Directors approved $5 million in funding for the program, which will be known as Small Business 20/20 (SB20/20).

SBA DISASTER ASSISTANCE

The SBA provides low-interest disaster loans to help businesses and homeowners recover from declared disasters.

Small Business Administration - The U.S. Small Business Administration is offering designated states and territories low-interest federal disaster loans for working capital to small businesses suffering substantial economic injury as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

Upon a request received from a state’s or territory’s Governor, SBA will issue under its own authority, as provided by the Coronavirus Preparedness and Response Supplemental Appropriations Act that was recently signed by the President, an Economic Injury Disaster Loan declaration.

FAMILIES FIRST CORONAVIRUS RESPONSE ACT SIGNED BY PRESIDENT

Amidst the escalating COVID-19 crisis, and in an effort to move nationwide relief out quickly to those affected, President Trump signed the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) last night. It will become effective on April 2, 2020, and remain in effect until December 31, 2020.

The FFCRA provides significant emergency paid sick leave and emergency paid family and medical leave measures for those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. It also guarantees free coronavirus testing, enhances unemployment insurance, strengthens food security initiatives, and increases federal Medicaid funding to states.

FEMA Coronavirus Resource

FEMA REIMBURSEMENT FOR COVID-19 RESPONSE ACTIVITIES

Federal Emergency Management Agency - FEMA is allowing applicants to directly apply for assistance in the PA Grants Portal at https://grantee.fema.gov. If you have not set up an account, I would strongly urge you to do so. This prevents the need for applicants to wait on the availability of limited federal and recipient resources and provide applicants a transparent environment to request and quickly receive federal assistance.
