LARKMAN CONSTRUCTION COMES TO RACINE COUNTY

One of three companies in Wisconsin licensed for manhole work

Larkman Construction, a utility excavating company from the Milwaukee area, has purchased two sites in the Town of Raymond in order to relocate to Racine County. Servicing both Wisconsin and Illinois, Larkman provides a variety of utility services, including directional boring, trenching, grading, concrete slab work, utility conduit, and manhole work. They are one of three companies in Wisconsin licensed for manhole work. For over twenty-five years the majority of Larkman’s business has been contracted with AT&T, with whom they maintain a successful relationship.

The business was founded in 1989 by Ray Knapp and is now owned by his daughter, Stacy Potter, who has been with the company since high school. Potter is now the sole owner and operator of Larkman Construction and her husband Daniel is General Manager. After purchasing the company, Stacy decided to diversify and began to include residential projects as well as other utility work despite continued work with AT&T. The business is currently spread through three locations and the move will consolidate and increase efficiency.

BLP has partnered with Commerce State Bank to provide 90% of the funding for the purchases through the Economic Development Administration Revolving Loan Fund (EDA RLF). This fund allows business to borrow long term loans that will be repurposed back into the fund for future borrowers. The funding and move will help create six new jobs within Larkman construction.
