Since opening its doors last August, downtown Racine’s newest hotel, Hotel Verdant by Dominion Properties, has garnered multiple awards for quality, sustainability, and economic development. Hotel Verdant has earned LEED Gold Certification for its sustainable practices, which include geothermal, solar, and wind technologies. Managed by Charlestowne Hotels, the 80-room property features an Italian-inspired restaurant and a rooftop cocktail bar. Notable sustainability features encompass geothermal wells, solar panels, wind turbines, a living green roof, energy-efficient fixtures, and eco-friendly practices such as composting and eliminating single-use plastics.
In recognition of its outstanding quality, Hotel Verdant won a Quality Business Award for having the Best Bed and Breakfast in Racine for 2024 from The Quality Business Awards, achieving an impressive overall quality score exceeding 95%. This accolade underscores their commitment to excellence, making them the top-ranked establishment in Racine.
Furthermore, at RCEDC’s Annual Celebration held on May 9, 2024, Hotel Verdant was honored with the Business Development Project of the Year award for its significant contributions to downtown development and job creation in Racine. The project brought together a network of partnerships and diverse financing sources, including a municipal grant from the City of Racine, new market tax credits, state and federal historic tax credits, PACE financing, and a Racine County loan. This collaborative effort resulted in a remarkable $39 million capital investment and the creation of 100 full-time jobs, transforming the local economy.
