Woodman's Food Market Planning New Location in the City of Racine

Woodman's development will contribute to the $110 million redevelopment project of Regency Mall

Racine, WI – Woodman’s Food Market grocery store is expected to open its newest location in the City of Racine in 2025, as part of the Regency Mall redevelopment plan by Hull Property Group.

Woodman’s involvement in the redevelopment of Regency Mall surfaced this month through application submissions to the City of Racine. Woodman’s will own the building and property that will cover almost 19 acres of vacant space helping to fill a void between the Oak Creek and Kenosha Woodman’s locations. In addition to the new Racine store, a gas station and car wash will be built, all of which are expected to bring in approximately 234 jobs to the Racine area.
To support this project, Hull Property Group has been approved for up to $39.6 million in city tax incremental financing. Demolition is scheduled to start early in 2024, and construction will occur shortly after in the summer.

About Woodman's

Woodman’s Markets was founded in 1919, when John Woodman started a produce stand at the corner of Milton and Sherman Avenues in Janesville Wisconsin.  Since then, Woodman’s has grown to a $2 Billion company with locations all over Wisconsin and northern Illinois.

Woodman’s is employee-owned and currently has 19 stores spanning from Northern Wisconsin to the greater Chicago area in Illinois. Today’s stores average 230,000 square feet – almost 400 times the size of the original store! In addition to huge selections of grocery items, stores feature a large liquor selection, online shopping with pick-up & delivery services, and gas stations with oil change centers. Although the stores have changed over the years, the mission to provide customers with best prices, selection, and service remains the same.

Woodman’s has always remained headquartered in Janesville, WI. After outgrowing the original office, a new corporate office building was built adjacent to the Janesville store in 2009. Learn more at woodmans-food.com
