aBOUT THE EVENT
The 2023 RCEDC Annual Meeting will take place Thursday, May 4th at the Delta Hotels by Marriott Racine, beginning promptly at 4:30 p.m. We will honor local award winners and celebrate the organization’s 40-year anniversary by recognizing major developments throughout Racine County’s history.
The keynote presentation, by Development Counsellors International (DCI), will provide a timely demonstration of how important talent recruitment and retention are to a region’s economic health. Additionally, RCEDC will honor local leaders, celebrate business expansion and recruitment results, and reflect on 40 years of development throughout Racine County.

2022 Annual progress report
Celebrating 40 Years of Economic Development
In 2022, RCEDC’s Board of Directors approved an impressive 105 projects aimed at promoting economic growth in the county. These projects varied in scope and size, ranging from small grants of $1,700 to support local businesses to large development initiatives that involved over $95 million in private investment.
The completed projects are expected to total nearly $289 million in private investment and $125 million in new construction, which will undoubtedly have a significant impact on the local economy. Furthermore, these projects are expected to result in 544 jobs created and/or retained.
On behalf of RCEDC volunteer leadership and RCEDC staff, we want to express our gratitude to our community leaders, private businesses, contributors, and partners for allowing us to complete another successful year.

Talent Wars: What People Look for in Jobs and Locations
As labor and talent shortages continue to dominate the news cycle, the motivations and preferences of talent continue to evolve. Communities and companies are under pressure to identify the trends and tactics that will help retain existing workers and attract external talent.
Since 2016, DCI has conducted the annual “Talent Wars” report, a national research study on the behaviors and preferences of relocating talent, to better identify the factors that are driving emerging trends. The results of DCI’s latest survey of more than 1,000 people who moved to a new location in the U.S. over the past 24 months will be the basis of this session.
DCI’s Vice President of Talent Attraction Patience Fairbrother will examine the top factors that talent considers when making a career or location change, where talent looks to inform their decisions, and more. Through data and case studies from across the U.S., the session will seek to demonstrate how Racine County can attract, and ultimately retain, talent.
