Foxconn’s Solar Project in Racine County Drives Renewable Energy Goals
Empowering Racine County with Clean Energy and Sustainable Development
A recent article by the National Association of Manufacturers highlighted that manufacturers across the U.S. have been enhancing their sustainability efforts, with a notable move towards greener operations by Foxconn, a prominent consumer electronics manufacturer based in Milwaukee. In July, Foxconn completed a major solar energy project at its Racine County campus in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin.
Key Highlights of the Project:
- 2,000 solar panels installed over eight acres
- Generates 1 megawatt of power, saving 1,200 metric tons of CO2 annually
- Power generated is equivalent to energy needed for 300 homes
This project, developed in partnership with We Energies, is part of the larger sustainability initiative led by Hon Hai Technology Group, Foxconn’s parent company. Hon Hai currently uses green energy for 40% of its global operations, with a goal of reaching 100% by 2040 and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
In 2022 alone, Hon Hai invested $75 million in over 1,800 energy-saving projects worldwide. As Foxconn continues to expand and innovate, these sustainability efforts demonstrate the company’s dedication to environmental responsibility and meeting customer expectations for eco-friendly manufacturing.
