Fostering Economic Growth

The Racine County Economic Development Corporation (RCEDC) continues to play a critical role in fostering economic growth in Racine County. For decades, RCEDC has been instrumental in recruiting development and businesses seeking a location in southeast Wisconsin and supporting existing businesses with technical assistance, low-interest loans, and grants.

Collaborative Economic Development

Effective economic development requires partnerships with local developers, businesses, and municipalities. Likewise, these partnerships are critical with organizations such as Milwaukee 7 and Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. When all the economic development partners work together toward a common goal amazing things can happen. A recent RCEDC report reflected the completion of 64 projects totaling $1.36 billion in private investment, with $1.05 billion in new construction. New construction results in a growing property tax base for our local communities. The 64 business projects have committed to creating or retaining 542 jobs.

An example of the partnership between RCEDC, and local, regional, and state partners can best be seen in the recruitment of Microsoft to Mount Pleasant. The construction of a $3.3 billion artificial intelligence data center campus represents the largest technology investment in Racine County’s history. This development will generate 2,000 permanent jobs, and its benefits are expected to have a positive impact on the region and state.

Supporting Businesses Seeking Talent

RCEDC continues to evolve our work to meet the needs of the community. To meet the talent needs of local businesses, RCEDC partnered with Racine County to create the Greater Racine County website. This website was created to supplement the talent attraction efforts of HR professionals.  The site features positive stories about Racine County’s career and living opportunities by showcasing professionals who have found success living or working in Racine County.
