The City of Racine recently competed with over 100 communities across Canada, Mexico, and the United States to earn a 2019 North American Smart Cities designation, becoming the first Wisconsin municipality and the smallest city ever to be awarded that honor. But, what is a Smart City? How can it help residents, entrepreneurs, and established businesses compete more effectively in an increasingly digital economy? How can a Smart City leverage its digital infrastructure and other technology to improve the quality of life and economic growth? How can a Smart City and its partners ignite and finance future innovation for digital government and private-sector start-ups?
