A variety of housing types are needed to attract and retain talent working at Racine County businesses. Our local municipalities actively work with qualified developers and investors to facilitate single family, multi-family and redevelopment projects.

    Recent Housing Development News

    Formerly the Olympia Brown School and Western Publishing Company facility, the Water's Edge Condominiums are now under construction and available for purchase. Located in the Village of Caledonia, the Water’s Edge Condominiums are nestled on the shore of Lake Michigan.

    Racine County, RCEDC, local municipalities, and partnering developers have taken the initiative to meet the housing needs head-on. Because of this comprehensive collaboration, Racine County is experiencing a much-needed increase in housing development, leading to over 3,600 additional housing units in Racine County.

    A groundbreaking ceremony was held Feb. 17 for the Breakwater 233 Apartments, a 202-unit apartment building to be constructed at 233 Lake Avenue in the City of Racine, Wis.

    The Water's Edge Condominiums are to be approximately 178 units, to be sold as condominiums and townhomes.

    The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) recently awarded the Village of Waterford $250,000 as part of the Community Development Investment (CDI) Grant program. The grant will go towards construction of what will become the Waterford Lofts, located at 506 E Main Street.

    Fiduciary Real Estate Development (FRED) plans to bring their new brand, Seasons, to the corner of Braun and Greeen Bay Rd in Mount Pleasant.

    The City of Racine, J. Jeffers & Co. and CG Schmidt celebrated the groundbreaking of the Avenue - a 167-unit apartment building - at the Horlick Belle City Square on Wednesday, December 2, 2021.

    The Residences at Dunham Grove are officially open for leasing. The collaborative effort to bring this housing development project to Union Grove was celebrated by members of RCEDC, Racine County, the Village of Union Grove and the developer, PRE/3.

    On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Arabella Apartments opened their doors to new tenants, offering studios and 1-3 bedroom apartments.

    The developers, J. Jeffers and Company and so many more have worked tirelessly to to create a livable historic location.

    There is a lot of good news coming from the historic Horlick District on Northwestern Avenue.

    In 2020, new residents and businesses continued to choose Racine County, taking advantage of its location in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. John Crimmings, General Sales Manager of First Weber Real Estate in Racine, believes outside companies are discovering the advantages of doing business here, which attracts home buyers – leading to a future of “a pretty robust real estate market.”

    RCEDC’s mission is to grow Racine County’s property tax base and by supporting business expansions, provide employment opportunities to Racine County residents. In 2022, RCEDC staff were able to facilitate 105 projects that included comprehensive site selection, loans, grants, and incentives resulting in $289 million in private investment and $124 million in new construction
