Demand for new housing investment is growing across Racine County. The local population is expected to grow due to recent business growth and other local development. A variety of housing types are needed to attract and retain talent working at Racine County businesses.     Recent Housing Development News

    The Residences at Dunham Grove are officially open for leasing. The collaborative effort to bring this housing development project to Union Grove was celebrated by members of RCEDC, Racine County, the Village of Union Grove and the developer, PRE/3.

    On Tuesday, June 22, 2021, the Arabella Apartments opened their doors to new tenants, offering studios and 1-3 bedroom apartments.

    The developers, J. Jeffers and Company and so many more have worked tirelessly to to create a livable historic location.

    There is a lot of good news coming from the historic Horlick District on Northwestern Avenue.

    In 2020, new residents and businesses continued to choose Racine County, taking advantage of its location in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor. John Crimmings, General Sales Manager of First Weber Real Estate in Racine, believes outside companies are discovering the advantages of doing business here, which attracts home buyers – leading to a future of “a pretty robust real estate market.”

    The Village is seeking an experienced master developer to develop and construct single-family homes on two sites totaling approximately 15 acres. The sites, located near Lake Michigan, are included in the Tax Increment District #5 project plan approved in 2019.

    The historic Horlick Malted Milk complex in Downtown Racine is currently being renovated into what will be known throughout Racine County as the Horlick District – a modernized living community to include residential, commercial, retail, recreation, hospitality and education spaces.

    The Western Racine County Targeted Development Study focuses on development opportunities in Racine County for communities west of I-94. The findings and recommendations of this project are intended to assist several of the western communities within the County in capitalizing on the positive impacts of Foxconn and its supplier companies, including impact on public services, new residential and mixed-use development opportunities, increased land values, and transportation.


    RCEDC’s mission is to grow Racine County’s property tax base and by supporting business expansions, provide employment opportunities to Racine County residents. Over the last three years the RCEDC staff assisted 72 projects that, when completed, will result in 1,000’s of new full time jobs, and will substantially boost local property tax revenues.
