Racine County recent housing, hospitality updates

Racine County, RCEDC, local municipalities, and partnering developers have taken the initiative to meet the housing and hospitality needs head-on. Because of this comprehensive collaboration, Racine County has experienced a steady increase in development over the last few years. These are just a few of the most recent development and their progress.

The Courtyard at Cobblestone Park

Sturtevant, WI

Courtyard at Cobblestone Park is a 12-acre multi-use housing development on Durand Avenue (STH-11), north of Farm and Fleet. The development consists of seven buildings and 228 multi-family units, including ADA units, in addition to two retail buildings. The developer – Sawall Development – broke ground in the fall of 2022 and plans to open the first building in September 2023.

Canopy Hill

Announced in 2019, Canopy Hill offers a diverse range of housing options within a vibrant community. The Estates of Canopy Hill comprises 188 single-family lots, the Meadows of Canopy Hill features 68 modern condo units, and the Oaks of Canopy Hill offers 60 multi-family residential units.

With the completion and full occupancy of the multi-family residential units, along with the sale of a significant portion of the single-family lots and side-by-side condo units, the development showcases strong market demand and paves the way for the next phase of development.

Home2 Suites

Sturtevant, WI

Construction of the 60,000 sf, 90-room Home2 Suites by Hilton – Extended Stay Hotel Suites is near completion. The new hotel is located at the southeast corner of Washington Avenue (Hwy. 20) and West Road, just north of Marcus Renaissance Cinema, 10411 Washington Ave.

“It was simply the right decision to invest in Racine County,” Shah said in a news release. “The infrastructure is in place, the people are here, the leaders are supportive and we have no doubt this project will be a success for all parties involved.”

Hotel Verdant

Racine, WI

The long-awaited reconstruction of what was once known as Zahn’s Department Store is almost completed. In the summer of 2023, the historic building will open as Hotel Verdant, Downtown Racine’s very own sustainable and full-service boutique hotel, at 500 Main St.
