Program Description
The Industry Sectors Worker Training Grants – a Fast Forward grant created and administered through the State of Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development – is now open for applications.
The objective of this grant program is to award businesses, throughout all industry sectors, looking to reimburse the costs of customized occupational training for unemployed, underemployed, and incumbent workers. The training plan is to qualify workers for full-time employment, increased wages within their field, or to receive a higher level of employment within the company.
Grant award amounts may range from $5,000 to $400,000 and require cash or in-kind match equal to 50% of the grant award amount provided.
Program Eligibility
- Includes at least one employer with a presence in Wisconsin and has trainees based out of the Wisconsin location
- Meets documented needs of employers for skilled workers
- Does not replace existing, routine, ongoing training, or any training that was previously funded by other sources
- Supports training projects comprised of one or more courses, each lasting no longer than 12 months
- Secures and documents commitments for 50 cents on the dollar with cash/and or in-kind match to the project
- Provides transferrable skills and/or leads to industry-recognized credentials
Grantees must complete training of at least 85% of the contracted number of trainees and at least 65% of trainees must be placed in positions with the placement partner(s) identified in the grant application.
