Johnson Health Tech Increases Workforce Retention

by Jeremy Williamson

YORKVILLE, WI — Johnson Health Tech North America, a manufacturer of award-winning fitness equipment, relocated their manufacturing operations to the Grandview Business Park in the Village of Yorkville in 2017.

Their previous production facility was in a 1940’s industrial building in Milwaukee; however, due to the age and configuration of the building, production and growth became difficult. The more modern and central location has allowed Johnson Health Tech to operate more efficiently, leading to an increased workforce retention and what Plant Controller, Howard Launstein describes as their biggest improvement.

“Johnson Health Tech is committed to investing in Racine County and creating new opportunities for growth. We look forward to our commitment in Yorkville and seeing how this project will help optimize our business and succeed in the long-term.”

According to Launstein, the fitness equipment manufacturing company had an 84 percent turnover rate in workforce from 2015 to 2017. In 2018, about a year after relocating to Racine County, turnover decreased to 33 percent, and about halfway through 2019, it fell to an incredible 5 percent.

RCEDC, BLP (Business Lending Partners) and the County of Racine assisted in the relocation to Racine County. The project consisted of over 200,000 square feet of space.

“Johnson Health Tech North America is a great example of a growing company that has found increased value in Racine County. We are pleased that Johnson Health Tech chose to invest here, taking advantage of Racine County’s prime location in the heart of the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor.”
